Colocation America Announces 2022 STEM Innovation Grant Recipients
Colocation America, an industry leader in data center services, announced today that it has awarded funding to 11 STEM programs across the United States through its STEM Innovation Grant. Designed to encourage and inspire youth to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Colocation America’s STEM Innovation Grant awards funding to programs that provide unique learning opportunities to youth in their communities. The Grant Reading Committee, a group of individuals with a vast knowledge of nonprofits, for-profits, and STEM education, chose the recipients based on several criteria including program goals, objectives, and aspects of STEM innovation.
The 2022 Colocation America STEM Innovation Grant Recipients:
Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is a museum focused on collecting, preserving, and making accessible various musical instruments and performance videos from every country worldwide. Colocation America is funding MIM's STEM field trips for students across the Phoenix metro area.
Ocean Connectors is a nonprofit with a mission to educate, inspire, and connect underserved youth living in Pacific coastal communities by studying migratory marine life. Colocation America is funding Ocean Connectors' education modules focusing on conservation themes such as watershed health, waste management, and sustainable seafood.
Propel Schools Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established in 2004 that supports the work of Propel Schools—its mission is to catalyze the transformation of public education so that all children have access to high-performing public schools. Colocation America is funding Propel's newer eSports Program that offers team tournaments, family nights, and Computer Science lessons.
WHEDco is a community development organization founded in 1992 on the radically simple idea that everyone deserves to live in healthy, vibrant communities. WHEDco’s mission is to create and bridge access in the South Bronx to resources that create thriving neighborhoods. Colocation America is funding WHEDco's STEM program that works with community partners to offer hands-on STEM programming to students in Kindergarten thru 12th grade.
Carnegie Science Center (CSC) opened its doors in 1991 and was founded with the mission of inspiring young people to consider and pursue STEM careers and cultivate a STEM-literate community. Colocation America is funding CSC's Mentors in the Making (MitM) program, which matches high school students from under-resourced families with STEM professionals to co-learn digital fabrication technologies, software, and design skills at the BNY Mellon Fab Lab at Carnegie Science Center (Fab Lab).
Smithtown Central School District (SCSD)'s Smithtown Robotics FRC Team 810 provides a unique and enriching form of STEM education that promotes a deep love and appreciation for STEM and its utility as an instrument of positive global change. Colocation America is funding the robot/competitions, outreach, and mentors aspect of the program.
Refugee Education & Adventure Challenge (REACH) is a nonprofit that introduces experiential learning opportunities focused on STEAM education and adventure sports to refugee youth at risk due to integration barriers. Colocation America is funding REACH's STEAM Learning Adventures Project which is an integral part of their Summer and Weekend Adventure programs.
The Arts and Sciences Center (ASC) is a nonprofit organization aiming to “STEM”ulate learning and career interest in an industry historically under-represented by groups. Colocation America is funding ASC's inaugural program, Coding for Good which is a technology-based entrepreneurship program that prepares high school students for the workforce by providing real-world job, experiences.
Aviation Museum of New Hampshire's mission is to celebrate aviation history and inspire today's youth to become tomorrow's aerospace professionals. Colocation America is funding a program that gives high school students the opportunity to assemble a real aircraft: a two-seat, all-metal Van's RV-12iS from scratch.
Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana (BRF) is a nonprofit organization with a vision to operate as a catalyst to expand and develop research, entrepreneurship, and high-growth businesses in the region. Colocation America is funding BRF's Digital Media Institute's Summer Camps focusing on Marketing and Design, Beginning Animation, Level 1 Animation, Level 2 Animation, and Game Development.
The Beta Foundation's Beta Academy's mission is to establish world-class schools through a culture of “joyful rigor” and to develop scholars and leaders who can contribute on a community, national, and international level. Colocation America is funding Beta Academy's early childhood STEM program that focus on outdoor and hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving.
