Galaxy S4 Rumors
But even before the launch, rumors about the latest features of the fourth installment of the Galaxy series have been floating around from as early as last year. Now that the actual phone is out, let us find out which of the rumors were actually true.
–Bigger touchscreen. The new Galaxy S4 was expected to have a bigger and better screen compared to its predecessor and it did not disappoint. From the current 1280×720, the S4 has a full High Definition (HD) 1920×1080 display that fills 5 inches of screen real estate compared from the previous 4.8 inches. These upgrades will take viewing images and watching movies to the next level. It also enhances the use of business-related apps like DropBox and RingCentral since documents will be better viewed.
–High-end Camera. Samsung was also rumored to bring a 13MP camera to the Galaxy S4, which again is true. The Galaxy S4 has one of the best cameras in the smartphone arena. And of course, such a high-end camera will require a bigger storage and memory. The new Samsung flagship phone comes with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB internal memory, which is also expandable up to 64GB through a microSD slot. It means that more media can be stored and played in the device. More applications can also be run and installed without the system slowing down.
–Improved wireless charging. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S4 supports wireless charging. Unfortunately, you will have to pay extra for it. First, you would need to buy a new special back cover, which is around $40, and then you have to buy wireless charger dock itself, which is about $60.
–More powerful processor. One of the expected gems of the Galaxy S4 is the eight-core Exynos processor. And this rumor both came true and did not at the same time. Yes, the international version features an 8-core Exynos 5 processor but no, the US version does not. Do not fret, however, because the US version features one of the fastest mobile chips in the market with its quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with clock speed of 1.9GHz.
–Flexible screen. This was one of those rumors born out of the spectacle about bendable screens in the last CES. However, the Galaxy S4 does not feature a bendable screen and it does not look like any of the next Samsung releases will either; and that includes the rumored Galaxy Note 3.
Now that the Galaxy S4 is out, you can see for yourself if it meets your expectations. Just prepare your credit card to take a hit because it has a hefty price tag.
