October 9, 2015How Cloud Technology Adoption Could Be the Savior of Your Devices
October 15, 2015All aboard the cybersecurity train! CHOOO CHOOOO! Each week we bring you the greatest and most terrifying cybersecurity and hacking-related links on the web. This is….THIS WEEK IN GETTING HACKED!
On to the links!
-Hey, did you hear about the e-mail server in Hilary Clinton’s basement that held state secrets and other classified information? Did you know that you could easily access it over the Internet if you wanted to? Because you could. Her technology advisor has totally plead the Fifth (literally) about the “security measures” taken to secure the server(s). And by “security measures”, I mean “anyone can access this if they want to, it’s almost like there was no security.”
-Speaking of “anyone can access this if they want to”, a hacking group has stolen the information of over 150,000 credit cards from a casino. No, seriously—they didn’t even have a firewall set up. They should’ve doubled down on security, AM I RIGHT? HEYOOOOOOOOOOO. Anyone? Anyone? Oh, you’re all at the craps table. Nevermind.
-Cybersecurity expert Joseph Weiss has an article saying that America should be afraid of cybersecurity threats—very afraid, in fact—claiming that our infrastructures are very susceptible to hacking. Listen, pal, NOBODY is going to tell MY readers whether they should be afraid or not except ME. But for real, you should definitely be afraid.
-The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) recently released a new guide on how to handle cybersecurity for the public companies trading on the NYSE. It’s the standard stuff like have better security protocols, hire someone to take care of this, alert stockholders about cybersecurity issues, etc. A pretty well rounded guide that could definitely help a company from being hacked….
-….but definitely not the market itself, as the Dow Jones was hacked earlier this week. Hackers got hold of a few credit cards and contact info for probable phishing emails. Man, they really should’ve listened to their own guide.
That’s it for this week! Stay safe out there!
