May 22, 2013The Turkish ministry of Customs and Trade received a Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, an agency known for rigorous audits; Turkey’s commitment to design.
Receiving a Tier III certification for data centers is a standardized process, but Tier III status from the Uptime Institute is quite an honor in our industry. So how did the Turkish government accomplish this? Through great design and computer modeling.
Data Center Design
Data center design has significantly improved over the years thanks to 3D modeling software Turkish contractors used to design the government facility.
Sudlows worked together with partners Symturk and Ankara to document the design. Although it is unclear when construction of the Turkish data center will begin, officials promised the final product will employ the most advanced green technologies for improved efficiency.
Technical Skill in Demand
Sudlows’ design expertise is in high demand, especially since more European countries are starting to embrace green technology and 3D building techniques. The technical skill required to build a Tier III facility requires the most advanced technology available today. The uptime institute awards certifications on a I to IV scale, I being the least redundant and IV being the most. Less than 230 certifications have been issued worldwide from the Uptime Institute. The rigorous auditing process looks at the following details: backup power, cooling techniques, fire protection. Once the facility is complete, the Turkish Ministry of Customs and Trade data center will become a communications hub in Europe.
